Talybont is a delightful village with a variety of shops including a pharmacy, a hairdressers, a Spar, a petrol station and there is the White Lion Pub serving a great Sunday Lunch. During the week it is open from 3pm and serves food. A short drive to Borth or Aberystwyth if you fancy a day on the beach. The estuary and sand dunes at Ynyslas are great for dog walks and exploring with children. Aberystwyth - easily reachable by train, bus, car or on foot along the coastal path. There are 3 close by train stations, Bow Street, Borth and Aberystwyth, that you can get to either by bus or car, if you are feeling really fit you could walk to Bow Street in about an hour. From these you can get trains further up the coast to Pwllheli, with dramatic views along the coast for much of the journey or inland to Shrewsbury and beyond to Birmingham.
