The district of San Benedetto (Santu Bendettu), although not part of the historic core of Cagliari represents the "character" and "heart" of the city of Cagliari. Born as an agricultural district, it began to develop between the '30s and the' 40s as a modern area of the city and then completed between the '50s to the' 80s.
